Where do the Solar de Mendieta wines come from?
Our wines come from San Vicente de la Sonsierra in La Rioja, one of Spain's most renowned wine regions. We also carry select wines from Rioja and Toro.
What types of wine does Solar de Mendieta offer?
We offer elegant red wines, fresh white wines, and summery rosés – carefully curated from the Rioja and Toro regions.
Which grape varieties does Solar de Mendieta use?
Our main grape varieties include Tempranillo, Garnacha and Tinta de Toro, complemented by other regional varieties.
Are all wines vegan?
Yes, all our wines are 100% vegan. We consistently avoid the use of animal-based aids in our winemaking.
Are Solar de Mendieta wines produced sustainably?
Yes. We work in an environmentally friendly manner and with respect for the terroir and the art of winemaking to create authentic wines of the highest quality.
Taste & Enjoyment
How long do Solar de Mendieta wines last?
Crianza wines can be aged for 7–10 years, Reserva for 10–12 years, and Gran Reserva for 20 years or more. White and rosé wines are best enjoyed young, within 1–4 years.
Do I need to decant a Solar de Mendieta red wine?
Rich Toro wines and mature Rioja wines develop their aromas best when decanted 1–2 hours before consumption.
What is the best way to store wine?
Store wine in a cool (10–15°C), dark place, and lying down. This keeps the cork moist and the wine retains its quality.

In the greater Zurich area, we deliver directly from our warehouse in Greifensee within 1–3 business days. Throughout Switzerland, we ship reliably via parcel service.

Free for orders over CHF 200.–
CHF 15.– for orders under CHF 200.–
Can I cancel my order?
Yes, as long as your order hasn't been shipped yet. Please contact us by phone or email.
Can I send an order as a gift?
Yes. Gift wrapping and personalized greeting cards are available in the shop.
Exclusivity & Availability
Where can I buy your wines outside of the online shop?
Our wines are available exclusively from us and in selected restaurants and wine shops in Switzerland.
Are certain wines limited (e.g. rarities)?
Yes, some of our wines are only available in small quantities – including rare rarities like Teso La Monja.

What do I do if a bottle is defective?
Please contact us directly – we will replace the bottle or credit the amount.

Yes. If there's a cork taint, we'll replace the bottle or issue a credit note.
